Analysis of Luganda Stories (March 16, 2018)
This assignment was for a university Linguistics course that provided us with an overview of African languages. The course was part of a two part curriculum. The course, which was completed first, broke down Africa into different sections by geography and linguistic topography. The final area of Africa covered was West Africa. Then, the following summer break after the course, we would travel to Benin and complete a small research project as well as assist a group there with the preservation of a local language in Bassila. More on the trip in a later post.
For this specific assignment, we were given a selection of Lugandan stories. We were to read them, then select one to analyze. The chose of story Wakikere ne Wamusota (Frog and Snake) and analyzed it in terms of cultural influence and oral tradition. Attached is the essay that I submitted.
